IHTEC's Earth Day Focus for 2008 - Climate Change and Energy
IHTEC hosts the implementation of Education outcomes as part of the Global Issues Project with our partner, Science for Peace. The Wasan Action Framework (WAF) from the Climate Change and Energy Round Table is important for those who are involved with curriculum change. It can be found on the Canadian Pugwash Group site:

NEW IVISIT ACCOUNTS for IHTEC video-conferencing events
IHTEC is pleased to announce that IHTEC has arranged for an Educational/University account with iVisit. This allows us to provide up to 100 people with a free enhanced ‘iVisit Plus’ video conference account. We have established a free iVisit account for you within our group.
IHTEC's virtual communication system has used Talking Communities for a few years now to conduct on-line conferences. Since Talking Communities does not offer a video stream, IHTEC has purchased this so that we can hold all meetings and conferences with streaming video. This allows us to see real-time video images of other conference participants – greatly enhancing the on-line conference experience. Additional information regarding this account is included in the FAQ-document.

MCICC takes the role of IHTEC Coordinator for All Spanish Speaking Countries
The Mexican Commercial and Industrial Centre of Canada (MCICC) is a Toronto-based organization. This group has been a major partner with IHTEC since 1996. MCICC are on the IHTEC Board and Coordinate all Spanish speaking countries in the world. (ie: The America’s and Europe). Teresa Prieto R., and Dennis Rankin have initiated many events with high officials both in Ontario, Canada and many Mexican States.
MCICC are a major sponsor for the promotion of IHTEC’s “Los Parques Escolares en Mexico por la Paz. (ISPG). This has been mainly achieved through inviting IHTEC’s participation with:

1. Facilitating workshops for youth from Mexico City from the National Federation of Women Economists;
2. Achieving high level meetings with Ministries of Education, Environment, Culture, Tourism, Film, Engineering, in both Canada and Mexico.
3. Mexican Professional Group of Canada (MexProCan) also participated in the ‘Mexico Canada’s Children’s Connection’ for the exchange of Christmas Cards between Mexican and Canadian children. Over 25,000 Christmas Cards have changed hands. This has resulted in the dedication of many International School Peace Gardens in six Mexican States.
4. Involvement in Premier visits to Mexican States to promote them as a Tourism product to Canadians.
5. Promoting an inter-cultural classical guitarist from Mexico, in Canada.
6. Holding a virtual conference “Round Table on Water” for Government officials in Mexico.
7. Inviting Professors to the Science for Peace, “Round Table on Forests” at the University of Toronto, Ontario Canada.

Herbert H. Carnegie, Founder of the Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Foundation, was honoured on March 30th, 2006, for the 50th Anniversary of the writing of the Future Aces Creed (http://futureaces.org/Creed.htm).
The Creed contains twelve positive statements or, as Herb calls them, rules for life. He wrote them to help himself overcome the anger he felt when he did not get chosen for the National Hockey League because of his colour. Today the Creed is used in schools from Canada to China, Barbados, Africa; it affects over 60000 students annually. The inspiring anniversary gala was held at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, Ontario.
To read more about Herb, the Creed and the gala, go to http://futureaces.org.

IHTEC has participated with Future Aces at two leadership conferences; in friendship, they are promoting each other's programs. Dianne Leggatt is an Education Facilitator, and a retired principal, who continues fostering the Creed with Future Aces Executive Director Bernice Carnegie, Education Director, Vivian Shapiro ... and, of course, Founder, Herbert H.
